(A) Purpose
The Forum aims to invite entrepreneurs, experts and researchers from local and overseas innovative technological enterprises and scientific research institutions to give an insight into the latest scientific research and technologies as well as to promote the development of innovations and technologies in the Greater Bay Area. As an effective platform for technology cooperation and exchange, the Forum will enable research organizations, universities, enterprises, inventors, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, investors, venture capitalists, etc. from all over the world to explore cooperation and business opportunities in the Greater Bay Area of China. It will also increase the success rate and opportunities in commercialization of research outputs and their applications, thus making contributions to the development of innovations and technologies in China especially the Greater Bay Area.
(B) Vision
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the regions with the highest degree of openness and strongest economic vitality in China, and has an important strategic position in the national overall development. Technological innovation is the key to implement the national innovation-driven development strategy. GBA has distinctive geographical advantages. Located at the forefront of China’s open economy along the coast and with the wide region in the Pan-Pearl River Delta, the Greater Bay Area plays an important role in the Belt and Road Initiative.
It is the leading economic region in the country. The cities in the GBA have a comprehensive industrial system with a distinctive cluster advantage and strong economic complementary. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao have outstanding capabilities in scientific research and development, and their commercialization into various products and applications. They also have a number of world renowned universities, scientific research institutes, high-tech enterprises and national major scientific projects that have all factors in striving innovations in the country.
It has high level of internationalization. Hong Kong has a global business network and is among the freest economies in the world. Macao is a world famous tourists’ destination. Pearl River Delta region has a high degree of external connection and plays an important role in accelerating the establishment of open economy in China. Hong Kong, Macao and the nine PRD cities share the same cultural roots. Their people also have close ties and similar customs. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is expected to become a new growth area in the world and attracts global attention.
